Bella was born 28 April 2021 and was thought to be healthy at birth until 24 hours after delivery she had limited movement in her arms and legs. We were transferred to Monash Children's Hospital and painstakingly watched Bella fight to live, enduring test after test. Fifteen days later her diagnoses returned with SMA0, no treatment, no cure and terminal.
Because Bella’s nervous system had started to degenerate in utero, her condition was too severe and too late to treat. On 18th of May 2021, 20 days old Bella passed away in her mum's arms with her dad, brothers, and sister with her. She is just perfect in every way but was missing a gene SMN1 that caused SMA.
